Poonch Police Attach Land of Pak-Based Terror Handler Rafiq Nai
J&K Police attach property of Pak-based terror handler

In a significant crackdown on terror networks, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have attached a property belonging to a Pakistan-based terrorist operative. The action targets the financial and logistical assets of individuals accused of orchestrating violence in the region.

Property Attached Under Anti-Terror Law

On Thursday, authorities executed a property attachment order in the Mendhar area of Poonch district. The action was carried out under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). A joint team from the Mendhar police and the Revenue Department oversaw the procedure, ensuring all legal formalities were met with prior approval from the competent authority.

The attached immovable asset is an agricultural plot measuring four marlas and two sarsai. This land is located in Nar village within the Nakka Majhari area of Mendhar. Officials estimate the market value of this property to be approximately Rs 10 lakh.

The Handler: Rafiq Nai, A Designated Terrorist

The property is registered in the name of Rafiq Nai, also known as Sultan, a local resident who is now operating from across the border in Pakistan. Investigators have identified Nai as a key figure functioning as a handler and launch commander for two banned outfits: the Tahreek-ul-Mujahideen and the Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force.

According to official statements, detailed investigations have exposed Nai's deep involvement in multiple illicit activities aimed at destabilizing the region. His alleged roles include:

  • Facilitating the infiltration of terrorists across the Line of Control.
  • Orchestrating the smuggling of weapons and narcotics into Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Making concerted attempts to revive terrorist activity in the sensitive Poonch-Rajouri sector.

Due to the severity of the charges, Rafiq Nai has been officially declared a designated terrorist. He is currently wanted by the police in connection with nine separate criminal cases.

Broader Impact on Terror Infrastructure

This property attachment is not merely a symbolic gesture but a concrete step aimed at dismantling the economic backbone of terror operations. By seizing assets linked to handlers based in Pakistan, security agencies aim to disrupt the flow of resources and logistical support to militants active on the Indian side.

The move underscores the continued focus of security forces on the Poonch-Rajouri belt, which has witnessed several terrorist incidents in recent times. Actions like these under the UAPA are part of a broader strategy to clamp down on individuals who support terrorism from foreign soil, making it harder for them to maintain connections and assets within India.

Officials have reiterated that such legal and financial measures will continue to be pursued vigorously against all individuals and entities involved in supporting terrorism, regardless of their physical location.
