Security Review Meeting Conducted
Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), conducted a comprehensive review of security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra along the Jammu-Pathankot Highway. The review was led by senior officials who assessed the preparedness of security forces to ensure a safe pilgrimage.
During the meeting, officials directed officers to maintain heightened alertness, ensure 24x7 surveillance, and provide all possible assistance to pilgrims. The focus was on identifying vulnerable points along the highway and deploying additional personnel where necessary.
Key Directives Issued
The security review emphasized the need for constant monitoring of the route, which is a critical corridor for the yatra. Officers were instructed to coordinate closely with local intelligence units and maintain a visible presence to deter any potential threats.
According to PTI, the meeting also reviewed the deployment of quick reaction teams and the availability of emergency response equipment. Pilgrims are expected to begin arriving in large numbers as the yatra progresses, making security a top priority.
Importance of the Jammu-Pathankot Highway
The Jammu-Pathankot Highway serves as a major access route for pilgrims traveling to the Amarnath cave shrine. Ensuring its security is vital for the smooth conduct of the yatra, which attracts thousands of devotees annually.
Officials stated that the review was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security in the region, especially during the yatra period. The CRPF and J&K Police have been working jointly to address any gaps and enhance surveillance capabilities.
