J&K Police Recover Devices from Srinagar Jail in Terror Case

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday recovered digital devices from Srinagar Central Jail during a search operation linked to a terror-related case, officials said.

The operation was conducted by a team of the State Investigation Agency (SIA) and the local police, who seized mobile phones, SIM cards, and other electronic gadgets from the prison premises.

According to officials, the search was carried out as part of an investigation into a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at the Shergarhi police station.

The recovery of these devices has raised concerns about the use of unauthorized communication channels within the jail, which could be exploited by inmates to coordinate with terror outfits.

An official spokesperson said that the SIA is scrutinizing the seized devices to gather evidence and identify any individuals involved in unlawful activities.

This is not the first such recovery from the prison. In the past, authorities have found contraband items, including mobile phones and drugs, during surprise checks.

The development comes amid heightened security measures in the region, with security forces maintaining a tight vigil to prevent any terror-related activities.

Further investigation is underway.
