In a decisive move against lapses in handling crimes against children, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district has suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ramgarh police station, a sub-inspector, two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), and a munshi. The action was taken over allegations that the personnel facilitated a compromise in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Details of Suspension
The suspended officers have been attached to the police lines pending a thorough investigation into the charges. A senior official confirmed that the development is part of ongoing efforts by the Samba police to ensure accountability and transparency within the force. SSP Anuj Kumar, who assumed charge earlier this year, has been emphasizing strict action against any misconduct by police personnel.
Related Transfer
In a related development, a special police officer posted at the Ramgarh police station has been transferred to another police post. The transfer is seen as an additional step to uphold the integrity of the investigation and prevent any undue influence.
The crackdown underscores the commitment of the district police to zero tolerance towards negligence or corruption in cases involving minors. Further action is expected based on the outcome of the inquiry.
