Jodhpur Sisters Found Dead Day Before Wedding, Poison Suspected

In a shocking and tragic incident, two sisters were discovered deceased at their family residence in Manai village, Jodhpur, on Friday. The devastating discovery came merely a day before their weddings, which were scheduled for Saturday, casting a pall of grief over the community.

Details of the Deceased and the Wedding Preparations

The deceased have been identified as Shobha, aged 25, and Vimla, aged 23. They were the daughters of Deep Singh and both worked as educators at a private school. According to ADCP (West) Roshan Meena, wedding festivities had been ongoing at their home until late Friday night, with family and friends celebrating the impending nuptials.

Around midnight, the sisters retired to their room to sleep. However, at approximately 4 am, their health took a sudden and severe turn for the worse. Family members, alarmed by their condition, immediately rushed them to a private hospital in Jodhpur for emergency medical attention.

Hospital Declaration and Police Intervention

Tragically, upon arrival at the hospital, doctors declared both sisters dead. The bodies were subsequently brought back to the family home. In their grief, the family began preparations for the last rites without seeking a post-mortem examination.

Police intervention occurred around 6 am after authorities received information about the deaths. Officers reached the location and halted the cremation process to ensure a proper investigation could be conducted. The bodies were then transported to the MGH mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigation and Suspected Cause of Death

Following the post-mortem, the bodies were handed back to the family for final rites. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest a grim possibility: the sisters may have died after consuming a poisonous substance. However, officials emphasize that the precise cause will only be confirmed upon receipt of the post-mortem report.

No suicide note has been recovered from the scene so far, leaving many questions unanswered. The police are continuing their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident, which has left the village and the sisters' loved ones in profound sorrow.
