In a decisive crackdown aimed at restoring law and order, the Kadapa police have arrested several individuals belonging to two groups involved in a recent stone pelting incident. The incident, which occurred in the Tirupati region, has been a source of tension, prompting swift action from law enforcement authorities.
Police Leadership Inspects the Scene
Kurnool range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr. Koya Praveen, along with Kadapa Superintendent of Police (SP) Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath, conducted an inspection of the area on Sunday where the stone pelting took place. Their visit underscored the seriousness with which the police are treating the matter.
DIG Terms Incident as Unfortunate
Speaking to reporters, the Kurnool DIG described the stone pelting between the two groups as unfortunate, attributing it to provocative statements made by individuals from both sides. He stated, "Cases have been registered against both groups. Several persons involved in the stone pelting have been taken into custody, while a few others are absconding. The police have intensified efforts to nab them at the earliest."
Prohibitory Orders and Confidence-Building Measures
DIG Koya Praveen explained that Section 144 prohibitory orders remain in force in the area. To instill confidence among the public, the Kadapa police conducted a flag march. He assured that the prohibitory orders would be lifted once normalcy returns, which is expected within a day or two.
Key Suspect Absconded to Dubai
Providing further details, the DIG revealed that the individual responsible for putting up a banner of Tipu Sultan has absconded and is believed to have left for Dubai. Meanwhile, the other group, which displayed flexes renaming a circle after a deity, has been admonished for their actions. Praveen emphasized that contentious issues should be resolved through dialogue rather than force. He noted that the police and district administration are holding a series of talks with both groups to amicably resolve the matter.
The incident highlights the need for peaceful resolution of disputes, and the authorities are committed to maintaining law and order while ensuring justice is served.
