Kalaburagi Teacher Found Murdered: Half-Burnt Body Identified as Jyoti Kapale
The identity of the deceased woman, whose half-burnt body was discovered on the side of the highway near Kalamuda village in Kamalapur taluk, has now been confirmed. The victim is Jyoti Chandrasekhara Kapale, a 57-year-old resident of Anandnagar near SB College in Kalaburagi city.
Victim's Background and Last Movements
Jyoti Kapale worked as a teacher at the Government Higher Primary School in Vanjarakhed village of Bhalki taluk in Bidar district. She was unmarried and lived in a rented house in Basavakalyan, frequently visiting Kalaburagi during holidays. According to reports, she attended school on April 2 and returned to her house in Kalaburagi on April 3, which was Good Friday, a holiday. She left her home the same day but did not return, leading to concerns about her whereabouts.
Discovery of the Body and Police Investigation
The body was found approximately 1 kilometer from Kalamuda village on the roadside. Senior police officials, including SP Addur Srinivasalu, additional SP Mahesh Meghannavar, DSP N Lokesh, and CPI Shivshankar Sahu, conducted an inspection of the spot. Initially, the age of the deceased was estimated to be between 22 and 25 years, but further investigation revealed she was 57.
SP Adduru Srinivasalu stated that chilli powder was found near the body, and the face bore injury marks. He expressed suspicion that the woman may have been murdered with a sharp weapon after chilli powder was thrown on her face. The police are actively investigating the case to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
