Kanpur Businessman Dies After Stabbing, Wife Held

Kanpur: A camphor businessman's son residing in Balaji Dham Apartment, within the Pheel Khana police station jurisdiction in the city, succumbed to injuries on Tuesday morning at Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital. He had been stabbed by his wife a few days ago. Following completion of the investigation, police have dispatched the body for a post-mortem examination.

Manish Gupta, who lived in Balaji Dham Apartment, operated a camphor business in Nayaganj alongside his father, Ram Kishore Gupta. He wed Niharika on June 30, 2017, and they have a six-year-old son named Vishnu.

According to Ram Kishore Gupta, tensions had been escalating in the household for the past two years due to his daughter-in-law's phone interactions with another man. Manish had raised objections to this, which frequently resulted in quarrels between the couple. It is alleged that during one such altercation on June 5, Niharika stabbed Manish several times in the abdomen. Manish, critically injured, was transported by his family to LLR Hospital, where he passed away around 4 am on Tuesday after ten days of medical treatment.
