A 36-year-old man tragically lost his life in Kanpur on Friday after a knife he allegedly intended to use against his wife became lodged in his own neck during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred in the Naubasta police station area.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the altercation began when the wife refused to allow her husband to consume alcohol. The couple's daughter recounted that around 9:30 a.m., her parents started arguing over alcohol, which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. During the fight, the father picked up a knife from the kitchen and charged at his wife. In an attempt to defend herself, the mother tried to grab his hand. In the ensuing scuffle, the father stumbled and fell, causing the knife to plunge into his own neck. He was found lying in a pool of blood.

Emergency Response

The mother raised an alarm, and the deceased's brother rushed him to LLR Hospital, where he was declared dead before arrival. Naubasta Inspector Bahadur Singh stated that by the time police reached the scene, the blood had already been cleaned up, allegedly by the elder daughter.

Investigation Underway

Police have seized the knife used in the incident. A forensic team has been summoned to collect evidence from the site. Authorities stated that further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and forensic investigation findings.
