Kanpur Man Crushed to Death in Late-Night Wall Collapse
A young man lost his life in a tragic and sudden accident in Kanpur late on Tuesday night. The incident occurred when a dilapidated wall collapsed on him while he was urinating beside a road.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The victim has been identified as Shubham Kanaujiya, aged 27. He was a resident of Masawanpur in the Rawatpur area. According to police reports, Shubham was returning home after closing his photo studio in Masawanpur.
When he reached near the Sarai intersection in Rawatpur, he stopped to relieve himself beside the road. He was standing next to an old and unstable structure when its wall suddenly crumbled and fell directly on top of him.
The collapse caused severe injuries to his head and body. The force of the impact left him critically wounded on the spot.
Rushed to Hospital and Subsequent Death
Family members rushed to the location after being informed about the horrifying accident. They found Shubham in a critical condition and immediately took him to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment.
Doctors at the private facility, after a preliminary assessment, referred him to the larger LLR Hospital for advanced care. Unfortunately, upon examination at LLR Hospital, the doctors declared him dead.
The news of his death sparked an uproar and immense grief among his family members and locals. Someone present at the scene dialled the emergency number 112 to inform the police.
Police Investigation and Family
Officials from the Rawatpur police station arrived and initiated proceedings. The body was sent for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Rawatpur inspector Manoj Mishra confirmed that the young man died due to the wall collapse. He also stated that the police had not received any written complaint from the family at that point in time.
Shubham Kanaujiya was the son of Jagdish Kanaujiya, a private employee. He is survived by his wife and three young daughters, leaving the family in a state of profound shock and loss.
This tragic incident highlights the danger posed by dilapidated and poorly maintained structures in urban areas, especially during late hours when visibility is low.
