In a swift action, the Kanpur Police have cracked a case of assault and robbery targeting a teacher, leading to the arrest of one adult accused and the detention of three minors. The incident, which sent shockwaves through the area, occurred last month and saw a dedicated police team working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Details of the Violent Incident
The case dates back to December 15, when a teacher identified as Rajkumar Bharti, son of Shripal Bharti and a resident of Meerkapur village under Lucknow's Nigoha police station, was travelling to Farrukhabad. His journey took a horrific turn when four individuals forcibly took him into a car. The assailants then subjected him to a physical assault before robbing him of his personal belongings.
The stolen items included his purse, an ATM card, a mobile phone, and Rs 2,000 in cash. After the crime, the accused abandoned the victim at Dada Nagar. Following the traumatic ordeal, a determined Rajkumar Bharti approached the Kakadeo police station to file a formal complaint.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Acting promptly on the complaint, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the relevant Section 309(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A special investigation team was formed to track down the culprits involved in this brazen crime.
The team's efforts bore fruit on Thursday, when they apprehended the prime accused, 21-year-old Vivek, son of Bau, a resident of Tin Shed Colony under Vijay Nagar police station in Kakadeo, Kanpur Nagar. Alongside him, three minors were also detained for their alleged involvement in the crime.
Recovery of Evidence and Legal Proceedings
The police action led to significant recoveries that directly linked the accused to the crime. From the arrested individuals, the investigative team successfully recovered the complainant's voter ID card, a mobile phone, Rs 550 in cash, and three wrenches. Crucially, the car used in the commission of the crime was also seized by the authorities.
Following the arrests and the gathering of evidence, all the accused were presented before a court to face legal proceedings.
