Kanpur: The Chakeri police have arrested two individuals in connection with a series of robbery and vehicle theft incidents, recovering Rs 24,000 in cash, two motorcycles, and a mangalsutra from their possession. The arrests were made during a checking drive on Thursday afternoon in the Ahirwan Chowki area, approximately 400 meters from the Airport Cut.
Identification of the Accused
According to ACP Cantt Amit Chaurasia, the suspects have been identified as Kundan Patel, also known as Arjun Bhadaiya (22), a resident of the Aung area in Fatehpur district, and Krishan alias Aadesh (19), a resident of Sai village under the Kalyanpur area. Both individuals have confessed to their involvement in multiple robbery and motorcycle theft incidents in Kanpur.
Details of the Crimes
On May 23, a woman in the Raipurwa area was targeted by bike-borne criminals who snatched her mangalsutra. In a separate incident on May 20, a motorcycle was stolen from the Chakeri area. The police were able to identify the accused by analyzing footage from 150 CCTV cameras before apprehending them. Authorities are currently investigating the network involved and determining the buyers of the stolen goods.
Kundan Patel has a criminal history with multiple serious cases registered against him at various police stations in Fatehpur and Kanpur. These cases include charges under the Arms Act and the Gangster Act, as well as theft and robbery offenses. Krishan alias Aadesh has also been implicated in several other criminal cases.
The police continue to investigate the broader network and are working to recover additional stolen property. The arrests are seen as a significant step in curbing crime in the region.
