Kanpur Police Conduct Late-Night Raid on Highway Hotel
In a significant operation, Kanpur police conducted a raid on a hotel located along the Kanpur-Etawah highway on Saturday night. The action was taken following suspicions of illicit flesh trade activities taking place at the establishment.
Eight Individuals Detained in Operation
The police detained a total of eight people during the raid. Those taken into custody include the hotel manager and two women who were identified as being from Kolkata. All detainees are currently being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
Trigger for Police Action
The raid was initiated after local authorities received complaints about some men making inappropriate comments directed at women in the area. This alert prompted the police to investigate the hotel premises where these individuals were reportedly staying.
Attempted Escape and Public Intervention
When police arrived at the scene, two men attempted to flee the hotel premises. However, they were apprehended by local residents who intervened. According to reports, the locals physically confronted the fleeing individuals before turning them over to police custody.
Official Response and Investigation
City Abhay Narayan Rai, the officer in charge, personally arrived at the hotel to oversee the operation. "Investigations are ongoing into this matter," stated CO Rai. The authorities have confiscated all hotel documents as part of their evidence collection process.
Comprehensive License and Standards Review
The police have initiated a thorough examination of the hotel's operating standards and licensing credentials. "The hotel's standards and licences are being thoroughly examined, and further legal action will be taken accordingly," CO Rai emphasized in his statement to the media.
This raid represents part of broader efforts by Kanpur police to combat illegal activities in the region, particularly along major transportation routes where such establishments sometimes operate with reduced scrutiny.
