A shocking incident of violence erupted in Kanpur's Bilhaur town on Sunday afternoon when a dispute over a mere Rs 2 for a cigarette escalated into a brutal attack, leaving a shopkeeper with a severed finger. Police have swiftly registered a report and taken the accused into custody.
Details of the Brutal Altercation
The incident occurred at a paan shop operated by Mukesh, also known as Deepu, located near the gate of a primary school in front of the block education officer's office. According to the official complaint filed with authorities, the altercation began when an intoxicated youth, identified as Anshu Kushwaha, visited the shop.
Kushwaha asked for a cigarette and immediately began smoking it. After finishing, he handed over Rs 5 to the shopkeeper. Mukesh informed him that the actual price was Rs 7, leading to a demand for the remaining Rs 2. Instead of paying the small amount, the youth reportedly started hurling abuses at the shopkeeper.
The situation quickly deteriorated as the argument intensified. Kushwaha allegedly entered behind the counter and began pushing and shoving Mukesh. When the shopkeeper attempted to defend himself and push the aggressor away, the youth responded with extreme violence.
Severe Injury and Immediate Response
In a horrifying turn of events, Kushwaha bit off the finger of Mukesh's left hand with his teeth. The severe injury caused immediate distress, with screams alerting nearby shopkeepers who rushed to the scene.
Witnesses and fellow merchants quickly intervened, apprehending the accused on the spot. They subsequently handed him over to the local police authorities, ensuring he could not escape justice.
Police Action and Medical Treatment
Assistant Police Commissioner Manjay Singh confirmed that based on Mukesh's complaint, a formal report has been registered against Anshu Kushwaha. The accused, a resident of Lalbahadur Nagar Tiliyana Gali, has been taken into police custody for further investigation and legal proceedings.
