A devastating road accident in Kanpur has left a family shattered after a speeding loader ran over a couple riding a motorcycle in the Chakeri police station area late on Sunday night. The horrific incident resulted in the immediate death of the husband, while his wife later succumbed to her injuries during medical treatment, highlighting grave concerns about road safety in the region.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The victims have been identified as Chandrapal Singh Yadav, aged 43, a resident of Chakeri Sanigwan, and his wife Anita Devi, aged 40. According to police reports, the couple was traveling on their motorcycle when the tragedy struck. Their son, Ashish, provided a harrowing account of the events, stating that his parents were on their way to visit his uncle, Naval Kishore, in Barra during the late evening hours.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Fatal Crash
Ashish explained that as his parents approached the Mangla Vihar Badi Puliya underpass, a speeding loader coming from the Ramadevi side collided with their bike from behind. The impact was severe, and in the chaos that followed, passersby raised an alarm. Fearing arrest, the loader driver attempted to flee the scene, tragically running over the couple in the process.
Chandrapal Yadav died instantly at the spot due to the brutal impact. Anita Devi, critically injured, was rushed to Kanshiram Hospital for emergency care. Given the severity of her condition, doctors referred her to Hallet Hospital for advanced treatment, where she unfortunately passed away during the course of medical intervention.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving information about the accident, police personnel swiftly reached the location. The bodies of the deceased were sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Inspector Ajay Prakash Mishra of Chakeri police station confirmed that the driver abandoned the loader at the scene and fled to evade capture.
Inspector Mishra stated, "A formal report will be filed after we receive a complaint from the grieving family. We are actively investigating the matter to identify and apprehend the absconding driver."
