A 24-year-old woman from the Chakeri area of Kanpur has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against her maternal aunt and uncle, accusing them of forcibly pushing her into prostitution and extorting Rs 1.50 lakh from her. The incident came to light on Wednesday when the victim approached the police commissioner.
Victim's Allegations
The victim, a resident of Sanigawan under the Chakeri police station limits, stated that after her mother passed away in 2024, her maternal aunt and uncle, who lived nearby, mixed intoxicants into her food, rendering her unconscious. She further alleged that a young man was brought into the room, and an obscene video of her was recorded. The accused then used this video to threaten her with defamation and forced her into prostitution.
Marriage and Continued Harassment
According to the victim, her marriage was solemnized on September 29, 2024. However, six months later, her aunt once again demanded money and pressured her to return to prostitution. Over a period of 20 months, the victim stole approximately Rs 1.50 lakh from her in-laws' home and handed it over to her maternal aunt and uncle.
Threats to Child
The victim also claimed that her maternal aunt threatened to have her eight-month-old child killed. Exhausted by the constant demands for money and threats, she approached Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal on Wednesday.
Police Response
ACP Chakeri, Abhishek Pandey, stated, "An investigation is underway, and further action will be taken based on the probe." The police have registered an FIR and are looking into the allegations.
