Karkala Drug Trafficker Arrested Under Stringent PIT NDPS Act
In a significant crackdown on narcotics, a man from Karkala, repeatedly involved in drug trafficking and sale, has been arrested under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act. The accused, identified as Mohammad Faizal, aged 22 and a resident of Kukkundoor in Karkala taluk, has been booked under this act, which is designed to curb illicit drug activities that severely impact public health and safety.

The arrest falls under the jurisdiction of the Karkala police station, where Faizal was found to be actively engaged in multiple cases of drug trafficking and sale. Based on a detailed report submitted by the police inspector of Karkala town police station, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Udupi district forwarded a proposal for the arrest to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Western Range in Mangaluru. After a thorough review of the cases registered against the accused, the IGP issued the necessary orders on Tuesday, leading to swift execution by the Karkala police on the same day.

Mohammad Faizal has been lodged in the central prison in Dharwad following his arrest. A total of five cases related to drug trafficking and sale have been registered against him, highlighting his repeated involvement in such illegal activities. Two other cases are currently under trial in court, indicating ongoing legal scrutiny, while one case remains under active investigation by the authorities.
