Karnataka Medical Colleges Warned Against Unauthorized Fees by AOC
Karnataka Medical Colleges Warned Against Unauthorized Fees

The Admission Overseeing Committee (AOC), chaired by Justice (retd) Ramachandra D Huddar, has issued a stern warning to private medical colleges in Karnataka regarding the collection of additional and unauthorized fees from students during undergraduate and postgraduate admissions.

Complaints of Unauthorized Fee Collection

In a note released on Tuesday, the committee revealed that it had received multiple complaints about certain medical colleges demanding university fees directly from students. This is despite the fact that the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has already remitted the required amount to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) during the seat allotment process.

Additional Violations Reported

The committee also highlighted concerns over colleges collecting caution money deposits and other fees that are allegedly not permitted under the consensual agreement signed between the state government and private medical institutions. According to the agreement, these colleges are only allowed to collect a skill lab fee of Rs 30,000 and a miscellaneous fee of Rs 15,000.
