Kazhakkoottam Police Arrest Man for Hammer Attack

Kazhakkoottam police have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly attacking a 38-year-old man with a hammer and attempting to murder him earlier this week. The incident took place on Panchayat Road in Chittattumukku.

Details of the Incident

The accused has been identified as Ratheesh, also known as Panchayat Unni, a resident of Chittattumukku. According to police reports, the attack occurred around 7:45 PM on Wednesday when the victim, Lalu of Menamkulam, was returning home from work. The accused allegedly intercepted him, subjected him to verbal abuse, and then struck him repeatedly with a hammer.

Lalu sustained severe injuries to his face, head, and other parts of his body during the assault. He was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The police have registered a case against Ratheesh under multiple charges, including attempt to murder.

Accused's Criminal Background

Investigations revealed that Ratheesh is a habitual offender with a long criminal record. He is involved in approximately 19 assault cases registered at the Kazhakkoottam and Kadinamkulam police stations. The police are further probing his activities and possible links to other crimes.

Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken against the accused. The victim is currently in stable condition and under medical observation.
