Kerala Businessman Shot and Robbed of ₹6 Lakh in Hyderabad; Police Probe Insider Angle

A textile businessman from Kerala was shot and robbed of ₹6 lakh during a visit to Hyderabad, in a shocking incident that has raised questions about how the assailants knew he was carrying such a large amount of cash. The case, which occurred in the bustling Koti area, has prompted Hyderabad police to investigate whether it was an inside job involving the victim's relatives.

Details of the Armed Robbery and Shooting

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Rinshad P V, son of businessman Abdul Aziz from Kozhikode, Kerala, had traveled to Hyderabad to purchase wholesale stocks at Medina Market near Charminar. After arriving on January 7, he stayed with his cousin, V Mishban, in Nampally. When his purchases did not materialize, his cousin advised him to deposit the cash into his bank account.

On the morning of January 31, around 7 am, Rinshad went to the SBI Main Branch ATM at Bank Street, Koti, in a vehicle belonging to his friend, Ameer. While he was depositing the cash, two unidentified individuals approached him from behind, threatened him with a firearm pressed against his abdomen, and fired two rounds. One bullet struck Rinshad in his right leg. The assailants then snatched the cash bag and vehicle keys before fleeing in the victim's vehicle.

Police Investigation and Suspected Insider Involvement

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar stated that authorities are exploring the possibility of an inside job, questioning whether the victim's cousin might have informed someone about the ₹6 lakh cash, leading to the robbery. "Was it an inside job? Did the victim’s cousin tell someone about the Rs 6 lakh cash and arrange for him to be robbed? We do not know yet. We are looking into this too," Sajjanar told reporters.

The police have registered a case under BNS sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 309 (robbery), along with section 27 of the Arms Act. Special crime teams have been formed to investigate the case, with a focus on analysing CCTV footage and tracking technical evidence.

Escape Route and Police Response

Based on CCTV visuals, police sources revealed that the suspects drove towards Chaderghat and proceeded to Nimboliadda, Kachiguda, where they abandoned the vehicle. After changing their clothes, they escaped on foot towards Kachiguda X Roads. Commissioner Sajjanar emphasized that the Hyderabad City Police are taking the incident with utmost seriousness, coordinating with neighbouring jurisdictions to apprehend the accused at the earliest.

This incident highlights concerns about safety in busy urban areas and the potential risks faced by business travelers carrying large sums of money. The investigation continues as police work to uncover the full details behind this brazen attack.
