On Wednesday, Prasobh, 26, alias Rokkan, from Chumathra in Thiruvalla, was apprehended by Thiruvalla police after being on the run since the crime was committed.
Additional Arrests and Police Action
Later on Wednesday evening, two more individuals were taken into custody: Sajan Thomas (23) from Cheruthana and Kiran Thomas (22) from Manjady. Police have confirmed that their formal arrest will be recorded shortly, as investigations continue to unfold.
This follows earlier arrests by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which had previously detained the first three accused: Subin Alexander, 38, Berlin Das, 27, and Akhil Kumar, 36. With these latest actions, all six individuals implicated in the case are now either arrested or in custody.
Details of the Incident
The horrific incident occurred on February 1, when the accused persons trespassed into the spa in Thiruvalla. They threatened a female staff member and demanded money from her. When she refused to comply, the situation escalated violently.
The first accused pushed her into a room, locked it, and proceeded to rape her, according to police reports. This act of aggression has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice in the community.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Impact
Authorities are intensifying their probe into the case, with the SIT leading the efforts to ensure all aspects are thoroughly examined. The arrests mark a crucial step in holding the perpetrators accountable and providing support to the survivor.
Local residents and activists have expressed concern over such crimes, urging for enhanced security measures and stricter enforcement of laws to prevent similar incidents in the future. The case highlights ongoing challenges related to women's safety in public spaces.
As the legal process moves forward, police are expected to file charges and present evidence in court. The community remains vigilant, hoping for a swift and fair resolution to bring closure to the victim and deter future offenses.
