KGMU Issues Show-Cause Notice to Professor

Lucknow: King George's Medical University (KGMU) on Saturday issued a show-cause notice to a professor from the ophthalmology department for allegedly contacting a complainant and attempting to settle a case. The complainant had accused another professor from the same department of prescribing medicines and lenses for cataract surgery from a private shop instead of the hospital-run subsidised centre.

Background of the Case

The professor accused in the anomalies, Sanjiv Gupta, has already been suspended, and a probe against him is pending. Notably, the professor who has now been served the show-cause notice was a member of the five-member inquiry panel that investigated the complaint against Gupta.

Audio Recording Submitted as Evidence

KGMU spokesperson Dr KK Singh said the complainant submitted an audio recording of a conversation with the professor, who has now been issued the show-cause notice. The recording allegedly captures the professor attempting to settle the matter.
