Khargone Father Booked for Allegedly Raping 12-Year-Old Daughter, Flees Scene
A shocking case of alleged rape has emerged from the Chainpur area of Khargone district, where a man has been booked for sexually assaulting his own 12-year-old daughter. The incident, which came to light after the minor and her mother approached the Chainpur police station, has led to a manhunt for the accused, who fled after the crime.
Dispute Precedes Heinous Crime
According to police reports, the events unfolded on March 17 when the accused was at his in-laws' house. A dispute erupted between him and his wife, prompting the man to leave with their three children: the 12-year-old daughter and two sons, aged 11 and 9. Instead of proceeding to their village, he stopped at a nearby grain storage facility owned by his father-in-law to spend the night.
Night of Horror at Storage Facility
At the facility, the man instructed the children to sleep. The girl, accustomed to sleeping with her mother, found herself unable to fall asleep alone. In a tragic turn, the accused, reportedly in an inebriated state, allegedly raped her before fleeing the spot. The minor endured the ordeal in silence until the next day.
Mother-Daughter Duo Bravely Approaches Police
The following day, the girl mustered the courage to narrate the sordid tale to her mother. Upon confrontation, the husband threatened to kill his wife, escalating the situation. Undeterred, the mother and daughter bravely approached the Chainpur police to lodge a formal complaint, setting the legal process in motion.
Legal Action and Manhunt Underway
Chainpur police station in-charge Gehlod Semaliya confirmed that a rape case was registered against the accused on Friday. Additionally, he has been booked under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A dedicated police team is actively searching for the accused, who remains at large as investigations continue.
This case highlights the grim reality of child abuse within familial settings, underscoring the critical role of prompt police intervention and legal frameworks like the POCSO Act in seeking justice for vulnerable minors.
