Zonal Strategy and Multi-Agency Patrols
For effective coverage, the district has been strategically divided into three specific zones: the urban areas encompassing Ernakulam and Kochi city, the coastal belt, and the high range regions. Dedicated enforcement teams have been assigned to each zone with clear mandates for rigorous patrolling and inspections. Their findings are to be reported directly to the central control room.
These measures are not limited to the Excise department alone. Targeted Surveillance on Hotspots and Past Offenders
The department is leaving no stone unturned in its preventive strategy. Special teams have been constituted to conduct daily checks and surprise raids at locations identified as potential hubs for illicit activities. Particular focus is being placed on resorts, hotels hosting DJ parties, OYO rooms, and camps housing interstate residents, where patrolling has been intensified.
Furthermore, dedicated squads are actively monitoring individuals with a history of excise-related offences. The goal is to gather intelligence and preemptively stop the smuggling of illicit spirit and other narcotics. Continuous raids and patrols are being organized both during the day and night.
Strict Directives for Venues and Special Striking Force
The Excise department has issued stringent instructions to all bars within the district, mandating strict adherence to permitted operating hours. Additionally, license holders have been warned against advertising alcohol in any manner that could be seen as promoting excessive consumption. Until December 31, a special striking force is operational within Kochi city limits.
