A tragic accident in Kolhapur city claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy on Friday evening. The incident occurred in the Ujlaiwadi area when the child, identified as Mohammad Bagwan, came into contact with a high-voltage electric line while attempting to retrieve a cricket ball.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to the Ujlaiwadi police, the young student, a resident of Airport Road in Ujlaiwadi, Karvir taluka, was playing cricket with a friend. During the game, the ball landed on the roof slab of a neighbouring bungalow owned by Arjun Khandekar. In an effort to get the ball back, Bagwan climbed onto the roof, carrying a cricket stump with him.
As he moved on the terrace, tragedy struck. An 11,000-volt high-voltage line passing overhead made contact with his neck. The powerful electric shock caused him to fall to the ground with a loud noise, immediately alerting neighbours in the vicinity.
Rushed Response and Fatal Outcome
People from the area quickly gathered and rushed the severely injured boy to CPR Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite their swift efforts and the attempts of the hospital doctors, Mohammad Bagwan was declared brought dead upon arrival.
Karvir inspector Kishor Shinde provided details of the case, confirming that an accidental death case has been officially registered at the Gokul Shirgaon police station. The investigation is ongoing, but initial reports point to a devastating accident.

The young victim was a Class V student. He is survived by his grieving parents and two sisters. The sudden and shocking nature of his death has left the local community in Ujlaiwadi in a state of profound sorrow and disbelief.
