Kolkata: Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has urged citizens to report incidents of hooliganism or intimidation through WhatsApp at helpline number 8282082820 so that prompt action can be taken against criminals. Adhikari said attacks on police will not be tolerated, referring to recent incidents at a police camp in Asansol and at Park Circus.
Extortion Stopped Under New Administration
Speaking at a programme in Ballygunge, the CM said extortions had stopped since he assumed office. "In the past five weeks, has there been any instance of extortion? Is there any syndicate raj now?" he asked, highlighting the improved law and order situation under his governance.
Zero Tolerance for Violence
Warning that violence like that seen in Mothabari, Dhulian or Shamsherganj would no longer be tolerated, Adhikari said those responsible for trouble would have to compensate for the damage. "No one will be allowed to indulge in stone-pelting during Hanuman Jayanti or Ram Navami," he asserted, emphasizing strict action against perpetrators.
The helpline aims to empower citizens to directly report any criminal activities, ensuring swift police response. The CM reiterated his commitment to a safe and secure Kolkata, urging public cooperation in maintaining peace.
