Kolkata: Sinthi police have initiated a murder investigation after a father alleged that his 43-year-old son was tortured and killed by his wife, who then hastily cremated his body. Subhashis Chakraborty, a former medical representative who lost his job during the pandemic, had lived for seven years with his wife Debika Saha (42) at her family home on Satra Para Lane in north Kolkata.
Father's Complaint
His father, Kamal Kumar Chakraborty of Ultadanga, informed police that Debika abruptly told him Subhashis died on Wednesday and was cremated that same night at Ratan Babu Ghat. Police have registered a case under BNS Sections 103(1) and 238(a).
Medical Background
Police said Subhashis had a neurological ailment and had been self-medicating. A local doctor had advised hospitalization on June 9 after finding very low blood pressure. Debika claimed Subhashis was found unresponsive on Wednesday afternoon. Police are examining witnesses and conducting forensic tests.
