Kolkata: Days after chief minister Suvendu Adhikari named Beleghata strongman Raju Naskar as being on his radar and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) confirmed they are assessing the properties owned by Naskar, Kolkata Police have filed two back-to-back First Information Reports (FIRs) against him. The police claim that Naskar and others were involved in illegal construction in the area.
FIRs Based on KMC Complaints
The civic body's legal offensive against Naskar was triggered by formal complaints from Barun Sarkar, an assistant engineer with the KMC buildings department. The first FIR names developers Naskar and another person for constructing an unauthorised five-storey building at 1/3A, East Coolia Road in ward 34. In another complaint, Sarkar flagged another illegal five-storey structure erected by Naskar, alongside three co-accused, on Barwaritala Road.
Separate Charge Sheet Against Joy Kamdar
Meanwhile, days after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested property dealer Joy Kamdar for being part of an extortion racket along with Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner of Police Santanu Sinha Biswas and Sona Pappu, Parnasree police have filed a charge sheet against Kamdar for allegedly cheating Behala strongman-turned-promoter Jishu Jain. The complaint was filed in March 2024, alleging Kamdar's firm defaulted on a payment of Rs 4.8 lakh out of a Rs 1.4-crore housing contract.
