A distressing incident unfolded in Kolkata on Monday night, resulting in the death of a senior citizen following a heated altercation over an old loan. The victim, identified as Arunjyoti Bar, resided off Tollygunge Circular Road and succumbed to his medical conditions after the quarrel.

According to police reports, the dispute originated from a loan of Rs 70,000 that Arunjyoti Bar had taken several years ago from a money lender known as 'Kabuliwala', identified as Ahmed. On February 2, Ahmed's brother, Hazrat, visited the Bar residence to demand repayment of this outstanding amount.
The complainant, Kinkini Bar, who is the victim's daughter, provided a detailed account of the events. She alleged that Hazrat not only demanded money but also misbehaved and assaulted both her father and her mother during the confrontation. This aggressive behavior escalated the situation, leading to significant distress for the elderly couple.
Medical Condition and Tragic Outcome
Arunjyoti Bar was known to have several pre-existing medical conditions, including asthma, heart blockage, and diabetes. Following the altercation, he reportedly became unwell and developed severe breathing difficulties, likely exacerbated by the stress and physical strain of the incident.
In response to his deteriorating health, he was swiftly admitted to MR Bangur Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, Arunjyoti Bar passed away while undergoing care, marking a tragic end to the evening's events.
