Primary School Teacher and BLO Confesses to Gruesome Murder in West Bengal
In a shocking development from West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) and primary school teacher has confessed to the brutal murder and dismemberment of a local resident. The accused, identified as Rizwan Hasan Mondal, was arrested on Friday for abduction and subsequently admitted to the killing on Saturday during police interrogation.
Gruesome Discovery in Water Bodies
The victim, Nasir Ali of Papila village in the Basirhat police district, was reported missing by his family after he failed to return home on February 9. According to relatives, Ali had left his residence on his motorcycle after receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be an assistant electoral registration officer, who allegedly requested photocopies of his mother's Aadhaar and voter ID cards to be delivered to Lalkuthi.
"He left on his bike but never returned," a family member stated. "His family lodged a missing person's complaint at Baduria Police Station. During the search operation, police discovered Ali's shoes near a canal on February 10, and later found his motorcycle in the Yamuna canal at Chatra."
The investigation took a grim turn when police conducted late-night searches across multiple water bodies. Senior Basirhat district police officers reported recovering dismembered and decomposed body parts stuffed in three separate plastic bags from the Yamuna canal under Chatra bridge, the Ichchamati river at Charghat, and a pond in Lalkuthi.
Alleged Motive: Extramarital Relationship
Police investigators have revealed that an alleged extramarital relationship between the accused and the victim's wife appears to be the primary motive behind this horrific crime. Basirhat Superintendent of Police Hossain Mehdi Rehman confirmed to media outlets, "An alleged affair with the victim's wife could have led to the murder. A thorough investigation is currently underway."
What makes this case particularly disturbing is that Mondal and Ali were reportedly close friends who shared a cordial relationship until recently. Ali's uncle, Shafiqul, expressed the family's confusion and grief, stating, "My nephew and Rizwan shared a cordial relationship. We cannot understand why Rizwan killed Nasir."
Arrests and Investigation Details
The police investigation gained momentum when Mondal himself went missing around the same time as the victim's disappearance. Authorities eventually arrested Mondal from Tetulia in Swarupnagar and his associate, Sagar Gayen, from Rampurhat. Both individuals are now in custody as the investigation continues.
During intensive interrogation sessions, Mondal reportedly broke down and confessed to the entire crime, providing investigators with crucial details about the murder and subsequent dismemberment of the victim's body.
The case has sent shockwaves through the Baduria community, where both the accused and victim were well-known figures. Mondal's dual role as both a primary school teacher and a Booth Level Officer responsible for electoral duties has added another layer of complexity to this already disturbing case.
Police authorities have assured the public that a comprehensive probe is ongoing, with forensic teams examining evidence and investigators pursuing all possible angles. The recovery of the victim's personal belongings, including his shoes and motorcycle, along with the gruesome discovery of his dismembered remains, has provided crucial physical evidence supporting the confession obtained from the accused.
This tragic incident highlights the devastating consequences that can arise from personal conflicts and alleged relationship issues, even among individuals who were previously considered friends and respected community members.
