Kolkata Police Investigate Stalking and Trespass Case Involving Former Theatre Colleague

Police officers from the Chitpore Police Station in Kolkata have launched a formal investigation into a serious complaint of persistent stalking and criminal trespass. The case involves a 25-year-old human resources manager who has reported being targeted by a former colleague from a theatre group, leading to charges of stalking and house-trespass against the accused.

Details of the Harassment and Escalation

According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Chitpore Police Station on Monday, the alleged harassment began in late January. The complainant, a resident of Paikpara, detailed how the ordeal escalated from unwanted contact to physical intrusions at her residence. She stated that her acquaintance with the accused dates back to 2009 when they were both members of a theatre group. After years of no contact, the man allegedly resurfaced on the night of January 27.

In what the woman described as a calculated move, the accused arrived at her home on a motorcycle while disguised as a "challan officer", wearing a helmet. He called her downstairs under the pretext of delivering official documents. Upon seeing his face, the woman reportedly recognized him and attempted to raise an alarm, causing the man to flee the scene.

Pattern of Odd-Hour Visits and Brazen Behavior

This incident marked only the beginning of a three-month period of harassment. The complaint outlines a disturbing pattern of odd-hour visits, during which the accused would leave unsolicited articles and papers at her doorstep. Police sources confirm that despite clear indications of disinterest from the complainant, including a direct warning delivered via a WhatsApp call on April 4, the man's behavior grew increasingly brazen.

The situation reached a critical point early on Monday morning, around 5 a.m., when the man allegedly scaled the locked collapsible gate of the woman's home to enter the premises. This act of trespass prompted the immediate filing of the FIR and the initiation of the police investigation.

Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigation

The Chitpore Police have booked the accused under relevant sections for stalking and house-trespass. Authorities are currently gathering evidence and statements to build a strong case. The woman's complaint highlights the severity of the harassment, which transitioned from digital and physical stalking to direct invasion of her personal space.

This case underscores the importance of prompt police action in stalking incidents, especially when they involve elements of deception and trespass. The investigation is ongoing, with police urging anyone with additional information to come forward to ensure justice is served.
