Contractual ECG Technician at Kota's MBS Hospital Allegedly Assaulted by Patient's Relatives

A contractual ECG technician working at MBS Hospital in Kota was allegedly assaulted late Monday night by relatives of a 60-year-old woman patient. The incident occurred after the family members accused him of sexually harassing the elderly patient during an examination conducted in the emergency ward.

Technician Denies Allegation, Cites Presence of Female Attendant

The technician, identified as Vishnu Prakash, has strongly denied the sexual harassment allegation. He stated that a woman attendant was present in the room throughout the entire ECG procedure. Prakash explained that he had asked for the patient's clothes to be removed as required for the standard medical test protocol.

In protest over the assault, ECG technicians at MBS Hospital stopped work for two hours on Tuesday. They presented several demands to hospital administration, including:

Sequence of Events Leading to the Assault

According to hospital sources, the elderly patient was brought to the emergency ward around 11 PM on Monday. After examination by a doctor who prescribed an ECG, the technician conducted the necessary test and promptly handed over the medical report.

Soon after the procedure concluded, family members of the patient allegedly created significant commotion within the hospital premises. They accused the technician of sexual harassment during the examination.

Vishnu Prakash provided a detailed account of the subsequent events, alleging that several relatives forcibly entered the examination room. He claims they physically assaulted him and dragged him toward the emergency doctor's chamber. The technician further alleged that the doctor on emergency duty was also manhandled during the violent incident.

Police Intervention and Legal Action

Police authorities and hospital administration quickly reached the spot and managed to bring the volatile situation under control. Following a formal complaint filed by the assaulted technician, Nayapura police registered a case against 4-5 individuals involved in the incident.

One identified suspect named Mohsin has already been arrested in connection with the assault. Circle Inspector Vinod Kumar confirmed that "efforts to nab the other accused are currently underway" as the investigation progresses.

The incident has raised serious concerns about workplace safety for medical staff, particularly those working night shifts in hospital emergency departments. Hospital authorities are reviewing security protocols while the police continue their investigation into both the assault allegations and the original harassment accusation.
