Kota Man Allegedly Murdered for Jewellery, Body Discovered in River
A shocking case of alleged murder for robbery has emerged from Rajasthan's Bundi district, where a 55-year-old man was found dead in a river with his valuable jewellery missing. The incident has sparked family protests and a police investigation into the brutal crime.
Discovery of the Body
On Saturday morning, residents of Vijaynagar village under Namana police station were horrified to discover a body floating in the Kurjan river, approximately 6 kilometres from their settlement. Police officials quickly reached the location and recovered the body, which was later identified as Kishanlal Bairwa, a 55-year-old grocery shop owner who lived and worked from his home in the same village.
Missing Person Report and Investigation
The tragedy unfolded when family members noticed Kishanlal Bairwa was missing from his room around 6:30 AM on Saturday. According to relatives, the deceased had retired to his room-cum-shop at approximately 11 PM on Friday night. In the morning, they found his room locked with no sign of the shopkeeper inside.
After conducting an unsuccessful search, the family lodged a missing person report at Namana police station. The discovery of the body in the river hours later confirmed their worst fears. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tailor confirmed the identity and revealed disturbing details about the condition of the body.
Brutal Injuries and Missing Jewellery
The post-recovery examination revealed the victim had suffered fatal injuries to his skull, indicating a violent attack. More significantly, police noted the complete absence of jewellery on the body, despite family members confirming that Kishanlal Bairwa regularly wore heavy golden and silver ornaments on multiple parts of his body.
"The body bore fatal injuries to the skull and was not wearing any jewellery," DSP Rajesh Tailor stated. "Family members said the deceased used to wear heavy golden and silver ornaments on his earlobes, neck and wrist."
Police Theory and Investigation
While the investigation remains ongoing, police officials have not ruled out the possibility that the murder was committed specifically to rob the victim of his valuable jewellery. DSP Tailor emphasized that authorities are exploring all angles, including examining whether the crime stemmed from any past enmity or conflicts.
"The DSP did not rule out the possibility of murder for robbery of jewellery, adding that the investigation was underway from all angles, including any past enmity," the official statement confirmed.
Family Protests and Demands
Following the tragic discovery, family members accompanied by local representatives staged a demonstration to voice their grievances and demands. The protesters blocked the Bundi-Namana route while demanding compensation and a government job for the victim's family.
Initially, the family refused to allow a post-mortem examination, but after intervention by SDM Talera Laxmikant and police officials who assured assistance according to established norms, they agreed to the procedure later in the afternoon.

Police have registered a murder case against unidentified persons and transferred the body to Bundi district hospital for a comprehensive post-mortem examination by a medical board.
