The arrested individuals, identified as Abhishek and Abin from Mesthiripadi, were part of a larger group of nearly ten young men who participated in the thrashing on Wednesday, which coincided with Vishu Day celebrations. The victims, Saji—a CPM branch secretary residing near the road—and his elderly father, sustained serious injuries during the assault and are currently undergoing medical treatment.
Saji's father suffered a fractured leg, while Saji himself sustained injuries to his head and body from the violent beating. The incident unfolded when the intoxicated group arrived on bikes and fell on the road, prompting Saji and other locals to question their condition and instruct them to park their vehicles safely.
