In a significant development in Udupi district, Kundapur Rural police have taken swift action by arresting two individuals and identifying over 20 others in connection with a viral video involving a minor and a subsequent incident of threats near a barber shop in Kandluru Pete. The case has drawn attention due to its potential to incite public unrest and disrupt local harmony.

Complaint Filed by Minor's Father Leads to Police Action

Based on a formal complaint lodged by the father of a minor boy from Bihar, who is currently in conflict with the law, Kundapur Rural police registered a case concerning the filming and widespread circulation of a video on social media platforms. The incident unfolded at approximately 6 pm on February 22, when the minor was present at a salon located in Kandluru Pete. During this time, a video capturing the boy speaking at the shop was recorded and later disseminated across social media channels.

Authorities suspect that the video was shared with the alleged intention of provoking public unrest and inciting disturbance within the community. This has raised serious concerns about the misuse of digital platforms to spread content that could lead to social tensions.

Related Case Involving Threats at Barber Shop

In a related development, another case was registered based on a complaint filed by the shop owner, Shashank Bhandary. He alleged that a group of individuals gathered in front of his barber shop and issued threats in connection with the viral video incident. This escalation prompted immediate police intervention to prevent any further disturbances or violence in the area.

Police officials stated that they have identified around 20 to 30 suspects so far, and legal proceedings have been initiated against them. Efforts are actively underway to identify an additional 25 to 30 suspects, with appropriate action to be taken as the investigation progresses. The police have emphasized their commitment to ensuring that all individuals involved are held accountable under the law.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Kundapur Rural police swiftly responded to the scene and initiated legal proceedings. As part of their crackdown, they arrested two suspects: Shashank Bhandary, aged 30, and Pramod D'Souza, aged 25, both residents of Kavradi village in Kundapur taluk. Both individuals were produced before the court, and further investigation is currently in progress to uncover more details and potentially apprehend additional suspects.

The police have reiterated their dedication to maintaining law and order in the region, urging the public to refrain from sharing or engaging with such provocative content online. This case highlights the growing challenges posed by social media in spreading sensitive material and the importance of prompt legal action to address such issues effectively.
