In his statement, Ram Chandra explained that his elder son, Rajesh Kumar, had passed away approximately three years prior. Following this tragedy, Rajesh's wife, Munni Devi, along with her children, was living in a rented house in Ishaq village within Kurukshetra district. The accused, Ganesh, also a native of the same village in Bihar, was residing in the same locality, setting the stage for the unfortunate events.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Murder

On the night of July 3, 2022, Munni Devi had fed her children and retired to bed. Around 12:15 am, one of her sons awoke to find his mother missing from the bed. Upon searching the house, he discovered Munni Devi lying unconscious in the bathroom. Despite alerting neighbors, she was pronounced dead before any medical assistance could be rendered. The police were immediately notified, leading to the registration of a murder case at Pehowa Sadar police station.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The investigation was spearheaded by then SHO Inspector Nirmal Singh, who oversaw a thorough probe into the matter. A post-mortem examination was conducted at LNJP Hospital in Kurukshetra to ascertain the cause of death. During the course of the investigation, Ganesh was arrested and subsequently placed in judicial custody.

After the investigation was completed, a challan was presented before the court, initiating a series of regular hearings. On February 11, 2026, the court, after meticulously reviewing witness testimonies and material evidence, convicted Ganesh. The verdict was based on compelling proof, leading to the award of life imprisonment and the aforementioned fine.
