Kurukshetra Police Nabs Punjab-Based Narcotics Supplier in Major Opium Seizure
The Kurukshetra district police have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug trafficking with the arrest of a key narcotics supplier. This development comes in connection with the recovery of a substantial quantity of opium, weighing 2.11 kilograms, in the district.
Arrest Made by Crime Investigation Agency
On Saturday, the police announced the arrest, which was executed by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) based in Ladwa. The operation was carried out under the direct supervision of Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police, Nitish Aggarwal, highlighting the seriousness with which the authorities are tackling the narcotics menace in the region.
Identification of the Accused
The arrested individual has been identified as Baljinder Singh, a resident of Barnala district in Punjab. He has been taken into custody for his alleged involvement in supplying the recovered narcotic substance, marking a crucial step in dismantling the drug supply chain.
Details of the Initial Seizure and Investigation
According to a spokesperson for the Kurukshetra police, the case unfolded on January 15. Acting on a confidential tip-off, a police team, following the directions of the CIA Ladwa in-charge, intercepted Sukhdev Singh, another resident of Chhiniwal in Punjab's Barnala district. The interception occurred near the Gumthala Garhu police post in Kurukshetra district.
Sukhdev Singh was found in possession of a canter vehicle bearing registration number PB-13 BS 9352. Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, the police discovered and seized 2.11 kilograms of opium from the canter.
Legal Proceedings and Further Arrest
Following this recovery, a formal case was registered under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Pehowa Sadar police station. Sukhdev Singh was promptly arrested in connection with the seizure.
As the investigation progressed, the role of Baljinder Singh as the supplier of the recovered opium came to light. Building on this evidence, the CIA Ladwa team took action and arrested him on January 30 in the drug supply case, as confirmed by the police spokesperson.

The accused, Baljinder Singh, has been produced before the court in accordance with the established legal procedures. This step ensures that the judicial process is followed meticulously, reinforcing the commitment to lawful enforcement in such serious matters.
