Tragic Suicide in Kutch: Businessman's Family Alleges Harassment Over Wafers Agency

A deeply distressing incident has shaken the Adipur area of Gandhidham taluka in Kutch district, where a 40-year-old man allegedly died by suicide on March 5. The family of the deceased has come forward with serious allegations, claiming that relentless harassment and intense financial pressure from several individuals drove him to take this extreme step.

Victim Identified as Dipesh Tripathi

The victim has been identified as Dipesh Tripathi, a resident of Adipur. According to police reports, Tripathi tragically hanged himself at his own residence. In the aftermath of this heartbreaking event, his wife, Deepa Tripathi, has filed a formal complaint with the Adipur police station.

Her complaint names multiple individuals, including Vipul, Rupesh, Kalpesh, and Ankita associated with Kataria Enterprise, along with others, holding them responsible for the circumstances that led to her husband's death.

Allegations of Business Sabotage and Financial Exploitation

Deepa Tripathi's complaint paints a troubling picture of her husband's recent business venture. Dipesh had recently secured a distribution agency for the popular Balaji Wafers brand and had made a significant advance deposit to commence operations.

However, the situation quickly deteriorated. She alleges that despite receiving payments through RTGS transfers, Kataria Enterprise repeatedly and deliberately delayed the delivery of goods. Dipesh had established a fixed distribution route and supplied wafers to his customers, but the owners of Kataria Enterprise—Rupesh, Kalpesh, and Ankita—reportedly failed to honor their supply commitments on time.

Furthermore, Vipul, who managed orders in Gandhidham, is accused of actively instigating others against Dipesh, which allegedly disrupted the business operations and caused substantial financial losses.

The Final Days of Financial Desperation

The complaint details the critical events leading up to the tragedy. On March 2, Dipesh made another advance payment for a consignment of goods. Despite this payment, the delivery was not made promptly. The situation reached a breaking point on March 5, when he was once again denied the goods he had paid for.

This left him under severe and unbearable financial stress as he struggled to meet his business commitments and customer demands. Compounding this pressure, Dipesh had borrowed money from several individuals, including a person named Karan Ahir, by pledging gold jewellery as collateral.

Deepa alleges a pattern of exploitation, stating that despite repaying an amount exceeding the jewellery's value in interest payments alone, the lenders continued to demand more money and subjected her husband to harassment.

Suicide Note and Video Evidence

In a chilling revelation, it is reported that before taking his own life, Dipesh Tripathi left behind a suicide note. Additionally, he recorded a video on his mobile phone. Both the note and the video are said to detail the alleged harassment and pressure he faced from the accused individuals, providing a firsthand account of his ordeal.

Based on the complaint and preliminary evidence, the Adipur police have registered a case. The charges are being filed under relevant sections of the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the provisions of the Gujarat Money Lenders Act.

This tragic case highlights the devastating human cost of alleged business malpractice and financial harassment, raising serious questions about accountability and support systems for small business owners facing undue pressure.
