A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 48-year-old labourer on a busy Gurgaon highway this week, highlighting persistent safety concerns on India's national corridors.
Fatal Collision on NH-8
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon near Binola village. The victim, identified as Satish Kumar, a resident of Kotputli in Rajasthan, was working in the area. He was attempting to cross the NH-8 highway when a speeding pickup truck struck him from behind.
The impact was severe and left Kumar critically injured. Passersby immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, but medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival. According to police, the collision happened around 3:30 PM.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Authorities from the Bilaspur police station have taken charge of the investigation. They confirmed that the pickup truck involved in the fatal accident has been identified. A case has been officially registered in connection with the incident.
In a separate but similarly distressing event in the same jurisdiction, an unidentified man was found dead early Thursday morning near Shankar ki Dhani village in the Bilaspur area. Preliminary investigations suggest the deceased was also a labourer.
Mystery Surrounds Second Victim
Police are yet to establish the identity of the second man. An officer stated, "The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. We suspect he was crossing the road when an unknown vehicle struck him and fled the spot. A case has been registered against the unidentified vehicle."
The body from the second incident has been sent for a postmortem examination. Police efforts are currently focused on tracing the man's family and confirming his identity. These back-to-back incidents on the Gurgaon highway network have raised urgent questions about pedestrian safety and enforcement on high-speed roads.
