A labourer was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants while he was travelling on his bicycle towards Patpara village under Alinagar police station of Chandauli district on Saturday afternoon.
Incident Details
After inspecting the crime scene, Chandauli Superintendent of Police Akash Patel confirmed that the deceased was identified as Manoj Kumar (38), a resident of Chatubhujpur village under Mughalsarai police station. According to police, the assailants were allegedly lying in wait near Patpara village and opened indiscriminate fire on Manoj when he reached the spot. He sustained multiple gunshot injuries and died on the spot. The attackers fled the scene after the incident.
Police Response and Investigation
Hearing the sound of gunfire, local residents rushed to the spot and alerted the police. Senior officers, along with forensic and crime branch teams, arrived at the location and collected evidence. After a preliminary investigation, the body was sent for postmortem. Police stated that CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined, and other technical and local intelligence inputs are being utilized to identify the accused. Officials confirmed that all possible angles are being investigated to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
