Protest at Ladhowal Toll Plaza blocks highway for five hours
Traffic on the Ludhiana-Jalandhar national highway was severely disrupted on Sunday as members of several Sikh organisations staged a protest at the Ladhowal Toll Plaza. The protesters were demanding the arrest of a YouTuber accused of hurting religious sentiments. The demonstration halted toll collection and blocked a portion of the highway, leading to a traffic jam stretching nearly two kilometres. Commuters were stranded for approximately five hours.

The protesters claimed that despite the issue coming to light 25 days ago, police had made no arrests. The YouTuber allegedly posted content that offended Sikh religious sentiments, sparking outrage among the community. The demonstrators announced free passage at the toll plaza and refused to allow vehicles to pass until their demands were met.
Police negotiate end to protest
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Ramandeep Bhullar intervened and held long discussions with the protesters. After nearly five hours, the protesters agreed to end their agitation. Police confirmed that traffic was plying normally after the protest concluded. No arrests were reported during the protest, and the situation was resolved peacefully through dialogue.

The blockade caused significant inconvenience to travellers, with vehicles backed up for kilometres. Many commuters were stuck for hours, and emergency services faced delays.
