Bengaluru Traffic Police Take Action Against Lamborghini Driver for Reckless Drifting Stunt
In a swift response to a viral social media video, the Bengaluru traffic police have officially booked the driver of a white Lamborghini for executing a perilous drifting maneuver on the city's MG Road. The incident occurred between 2 am and 3 am on Saturday near Anil Kumble Circle, a key junction in the heart of the city.
Video Evidence Leads to Legal Action
The footage, captured by a commuter and shared online with tags to the city police, vividly depicts the luxury sports car accelerating from the direction of Chinnaswamy Stadium towards MG Road. Upon reaching the center of the traffic junction, the vehicle abruptly brakes, performs a high-speed drift, and then speeds away back toward the stadium. This reckless act took place on a recently asphalted section of the road, heightening safety concerns.
The police have invoked Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to rash or negligent driving on a public way that endangers human life or personal safety of others. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the car bears the license plate KA 05-NR-0009.
Authorities Vow Strict Measures
Deputy Commissioner of Police (in-charge) for the west traffic division, Sahil Bagla, issued a stern warning, emphasizing that such behavior will not be tolerated on Bengaluru's roads. "We are committed to tracing both the owner of the vehicle and the individual who performed this dangerous stunt," Bagla stated. "Strict legal action will be initiated against them to ensure road safety and deter future violations."
This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing reckless driving, particularly involving high-performance vehicles in urban areas. The police's proactive approach, acting on social media evidence, highlights their dedication to maintaining public order and safety.
