A young law student's promising future was tragically cut short in the early hours of Tuesday when her car collided with a stationary truck on Delhi's Outer Ring Road near Mayur Vihar Phase-I.
The victim, identified as 22-year-old Manya, was a final-year law student at Amity University in Noida. The fatal accident occurred around 2:30 AM when she was returning home after meeting friends.
According to police reports, the stationary truck was parked on the carriageway without any proper reflectors or warning signs. Manya's speeding Hyundai i20 crashed into the rear of the truck with tremendous force, causing massive damage to the vehicle.
Emergency Response and Medical Efforts
Local residents who heard the loud impact immediately alerted emergency services. Police and fire department teams rushed to the scene and worked for nearly an hour to extricate the critically injured student from the mangled wreckage of her car.
Manya was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. The impact of the collision was so severe that she likely died instantly from her injuries.
Police Investigation Underway
Delhi Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
Authorities are examining why the truck was parked on the main carriageway without proper safety measures. The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident and remains at large.
Growing Concerns About Road Safety
This tragic incident has once again highlighted the serious road safety issues plaguing Delhi's streets, particularly the dangerous practice of parking heavy vehicles on busy roads without adequate warning signals.
Local residents have long complained about the hazards posed by improperly parked trucks and commercial vehicles on major roads, especially during nighttime when visibility is reduced.
The tragic death of this young law student serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and improved road safety measures across the national capital.
