Background of the Case

Pandit worked as a driver for one Daljit Singh. On October 21, 2023, he traveled to Koderma town with Singh but did not return. His mobile phone remained switched off, prompting his wife, Sunita Devi, to file a First Information Report (FIR) with the Tilaiya police.

Motive and Investigation

Public Prosecutor Praveen Kumar Singh revealed that the murder was linked to an earlier gold robbery case involving Daljit Singh, Pradeep Pandit, and Suraj Rana. A dispute arose over the proceeds of the robbery, leading to Pandit's murder. The prosecution presented all witnesses during the trial and argued for the maximum punishment, emphasizing the gruesome nature of the crime.

Defense and Verdict

Defense counsel Anwar Hussain argued on behalf of the accused, but the court found the evidence against Rana overwhelming. The judge concluded that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt, resulting in the life imprisonment sentence.

This case highlights the successful efforts of the judicial system in delivering justice for heinous crimes. The court's decision serves as a deterrent against such criminal acts in the future.
