Life Imprisonment for Murder over Rs 200 Dispute in Mathura

A local court in Mathura has sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the murder of a 45-year-old farmer over a dispute involving Rs 200. The victim's body was dumped by the roadside after the crime.

Court Verdict and Sentence

Additional District and Sessions Judge Ram Kishore Pandey convicted Rinku Singh and Dayashankar Singh on Tuesday. Each was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000. In case of non-payment of the fine, they will face an additional six months of imprisonment, the court stated.

Details of the Case

According to ADGC Raju Singh, the victim, Kumesh Chand Sharma, a resident of the Mant police station area, left his home on October 21, 2019, informing his family that he was heading towards Bichpuri Road in Raya. He was last seen near a shop in the area that evening but did not return home.

When his family failed to contact him, his brother Ajit Kumar approached the Raya police station the next day. There, he learned that Kumesh had been murdered and his body recovered from the roadside.

Investigation and Confession

Police registered a case under Indian Penal Code sections 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy). During interrogation after their arrest, Rinku allegedly told police that Kumesh had slapped him for refusing to return Rs 200 he had borrowed. Enraged by the altercation, Rinku and Dayashankar allegedly killed Kumesh and dumped his body by the roadside.

The court's decision underscores the severity of crimes arising from minor disputes and serves as a deterrent against such violent acts.
