A local court in Sompeta of Srikakulam district has sentenced two individuals to life imprisonment in connection with a murder case dating back three years. The convicts, Konda Ramesh and Bhubaneswar Behara, were found guilty of killing Anand Setti, a 45-year-old man, on July 30, 2022, at Kuladi village under Mandasa police station limits.

Background of the Victim

Anand Setti was a native of Ganjam district in Odisha. He was married to Tilottamma, and the couple initially resided in Hyderabad before eventually settling in Gowda Gurandi village in Srikakulam district for their livelihood.

Relationship Between Victim and Accused

Investigations revealed that Konda Ramesh and Bhubaneswar Behara, both residents of Gowda Gurandi, had befriended Anand and occasionally consumed liquor together. However, disputes arose after Ramesh and Behara allegedly insulted Anand over certain issues, leading to frequent altercations among them.

Details of the Crime

On the fateful day of July 30, 2022, the three individuals rode a bike to Kuladi village for a liquor party. During an argument, Ramesh and Behara strangled Anand to death. Following the incident, the police arrested the duo and filed a chargesheet in court.

Court Verdict

After a thorough trial, the court sentenced both convicts to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on each. The judgment was delivered by the local court in Sompeta, bringing closure to the three-year-old case.
