A district and sessions court in Hyderabad has delivered a stern verdict, sentencing two individuals to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of a 14-year-old boy in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district. The convicted men, identified as Borkunta Tarun (22) and Durgam Narun Kumar (23), were found guilty of strangling the young victim to death.
The Harassment That Led to Tragedy
According to the police and the victim's mother, Arunabai, the roots of the crime lay in persistent harassment. Arunabai stated that her family included two daughters and the son who was the victim, a Class VIII student. The main accused, Tarun, had been harassing her younger daughter under the guise of a romantic interest.
"Despite our repeated warnings, he did not stop," the mother recounted in her complaint. "We even sent my daughter to a relative's house for safety, but Tarun followed her there and continued to trouble her." This ongoing harassment set the stage for an unthinkable act of retaliation.
The Fatal Day and Police Investigation
The tragedy unfolded on June 1, 2023, in Ullipitta village of Tiryani mandal. Taking advantage of the mother's absence while she was at work, Tarun, accompanied by Durgam Narun Kumar, went to the family's home. There, they strangled the 14-year-old boy to death.
Following the incident, Tiryani SI Ramesh registered a case. The investigation was subsequently taken over by Rebbena CI Allam Narender. The police built a strong case that was presented before the court.
Court Proceedings and Final Verdict
During the trial, Public Prosecutor Jaganmohan Rao presented key witnesses before the court, solidifying the case against the accused. After examining the evidence and testimonies, the judge pronounced the verdict on December 4.
The court not only sentenced both Tarun and Kumar to rigorous life imprisonment but also imposed a monetary fine on them. The conviction was hailed as a significant achievement for the law enforcement and judicial system involved in the sensitive case.
District SP Nitika Pant commended the efforts of the police and court personnel, specifically naming Tiryani SI Venkatesh, Rebbena CI Sanjay, and Asifabad ASP Chittaranjan for their diligent work in pursuing the investigation and ensuring a successful conviction.
