Khargone Court Delivers Life Sentence in Heinous Murder of Minor

In a significant verdict, a special court in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the abduction and murder of a 17-year-old boy, who was the nephew of a Congress MLA. The ruling underscores the judiciary's firm stance against violent crimes, particularly those involving minors.

Court Convicts Yash Patel Under SC/ST Act

Special Judge Masood Ahmed Khan, presiding under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in Mandleshwar, found Yash alias Yasu Patel guilty on Friday. The court imposed a life sentence for the murder of Abhinay Dabur, with additional penalties for evidence destruction. Patel received four years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,000 for tampering with evidence, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the judgment.

Details of the Tragic Incident Emerge

According to prosecution accounts, the incident unfolded on March 23, 2023, when Abhinay alias Bittu Dawar left his home on a motorcycle, heading towards the Bistan Naka area. He failed to return by late night, and his mobile phone was switched off, prompting immediate concern from his family.

A formal complaint led the Kotwali police station in Khargone to register a case of abduction and launch an investigation. During questioning, Yash Patel and a juvenile accomplice confessed to luring Abhinay via phone, meeting him, and consuming beer together on the Khargone-Bistan Road.

Brutal Murder Following Motorcycle Dispute

The prosecution revealed that the duo demanded Abhinay's motorcycle for a few days, but he refused. In response, they assaulted him with a beer bottle, rendering him unconscious. They then transported him to a trenching ground, where they strangled him to death using a nylon rope. To conceal the crime, they hanged his body from a tree on nearby Dabriya Road and fled with his two-wheeler.

Abhinay was identified as the nephew of Kedar Dabur, the Congress MLA from Bhagwanpura, adding a political dimension to the case and drawing widespread attention.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings for Juvenile Accused

Special Public Prosecutor Vijay Singh Jamra informed that the trial for the juvenile accused in this case is currently underway in the Juvenile Court in Khargone. This aspect of the case continues to be monitored, as the legal system addresses the involvement of minors in serious offenses.

The verdict serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of violent crimes and the importance of swift justice in safeguarding community safety.
