The quiet village of Tallewal in Punjab's Barnala district was shaken on Friday by the grim discovery of two bodies inside a house owned by a non-resident Indian (NRI). The deceased, a young couple in a live-in relationship, were found under circumstances that have left the police and locals baffled.

The victims have been identified as Parwinder Singh, aged 30, from Kaonke village in Ludhiana, and Baljit Kaur, aged 25, from Aligarh in the Jagraon subdivision of Ludhiana. According to police reports, the couple had arrived at the house only a day earlier, on Thursday. They had plans to start a burger shop business in the area. A caretaker of the property allowed them to stay in one of the rooms for the night.
When the pair did not emerge from the room until late on Friday, the concerned caretaker took action. He broke open the door and was met with a horrifying scene. Inside, he found the lifeless bodies of the couple.

Police officials who rushed to the spot described the scene. Parwinder Singh was found hanging from a ceiling fan, while Baljit Kaur was lying motionless on a bed in the same room. Barnala's Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam, addressed the media regarding the preliminary investigation. "Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide," Alam stated.
