National Lok Adalat Resolves Decades-Old Land Disputes in Rajasthan
Lok Adalat Settles 36-Year Land Dispute in Rajasthan

National Lok Adalat Achieves Breakthrough in Long-Pending Land Disputes

In a significant legal development, the National Lok Adalat held in Ajmer on Saturday witnessed the successful resolution of two protracted land dispute cases that had been lingering for decades. The Board of Revenue Rajasthan (BRR) facilitated these settlements, highlighting the efficacy of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the Indian judicial system.

Jhunjhunu Case: A 36-Year-Old Dispute Resolved Swiftly

The first case, originating from Jhunjhunu, involved a contentious land dispute between Hanuman Prasad and Gori Shanker that had persisted since 1990. After nearly three decades of legal battles, the parties reached a mutual agreement through pre-counselling led by pre-counsellor Suresh Kumar Sindhi. Remarkably, the resolution process was expedited, taking just 10 minutes to finalise a compromise that satisfied both parties, bringing an end to a conflict that had spanned generations.

Kota Case: 31-Year-Old Dispute Settled Through Mediation

Similarly, the second case from Kota, which involved a dispute between Vinod and Rameshwar from Deegod, had been pending since 1995. This case was also resolved through mediation during the Lok Adalat sessions, demonstrating the consistent success of such forums in addressing complex legal issues. Sindhi commented on the enduring nature of these disputes, noting that the litigations had involved not only the original parties but also their sons and grandsons, underscoring the intergenerational impact of unresolved conflicts.

High Success Rate and Celebratory Recognition

The National Lok Adalat at the BRR achieved an impressive success rate, with 44 out of 48 identified cases being resolved. To celebrate these outcomes, the members, additional registrar, and Bar president honoured the litigants with garlands and extended their best wishes, symbolising a positive step towards justice and harmony. This event underscores the importance of Lok Adalats in reducing court backlogs and providing timely resolutions to long-standing disputes, thereby enhancing public trust in the legal system.
